Anne Bonny
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag
Anne Bonny is the first cosplay I’ve made at the request of a game company. The makers of AC:Black Flag wanted to have the front row of their PAX 2013 panel full of cosplayers from the new game SO, they dent out the call to Seattle cosplayers and my friends relayed it to me and got me the game models from the developers to make Anne in about 2 weeks before con. Getting to meet the developers of what would become one of my favorite games of all time, and have them approve of my cosplay is still a cherished memory (and the confidence boost I desperately needed at the time.)
The hardest part about this cosplay was the layering, and since all I had to work off of for planning was the concept art as the T-pose model came in later so, I had to guess at a few things. The base shirt is a classic cotton “peasant shirt” (and I used it for 10 years before I got destroyed by my cats heh.) the jacket and corset are poly satin and suede respectively, and are attached to make sure everything stays in place. Patterning the jacket was honestly a nightmare since she is alwats wearing it off shoulder so, it was NOT shaped like a proper jacket. Skirts are dyed red linen and green satin. If I were to make this now I would do a lot differently materials and pattern wise but, I learned so much from making this and wore her for a solid year before salvaging her for parts.
